Whitney Rose: 16.5 Months Old...I Can't Keep Up!

Whitney, you are seriously growing and changing way too fast.  Every single day, you eat more, weigh more, say more and do more new things!  It has been so much fun!  But just yesterday, I was going through some photos of you at ten months old--six months ago--and I seriously started crying.  Because time is flying by.  Those old pictures look like a lifetime ago.  You are so different now!  You are not a baby anymore (but to me, you will truly always be my baby).

You are going to be a big sister in June.
I haven't had much time to even think about your sibling, because you keep me very busy, sweetheart--that, coupled with extreme exhaustion and morning sickness that wiped me out the last few months.  Just today, I am feeling energy that I haven't felt in way too long.  Hence, the blogging.  Feels good to be feeling well again.  I am thankful!  Mommy's back :)

Let me see how much I can remember of the changes in you since I last blogged...

New words: One of the funniest things you now say is, "Nah."  ("No.")

As in, "Whitney, did you poop?"

"Nah." (but you did.)

"Let me rephrase the question, then.  Whitney, is your diaper clean?"

"Nah."

"Okay.  Daddy change your diaper."

It is the cutest thing ever, how you say it.  You don't know how to say "yes" yet.  But you are full of "no" answers to almost all of our questions.

You also learned to say, "Hi!"  You smile and wave your hand excitedly!

You know that a duck says quack, a horse says neigh, and a sheep says baa.  You can identify head, eyes, knees, toes, tummy and sometimes mouth, ears and nose.  You can say hat and eyes.

"Chee" for Cheerios; "Wah" for water; "Bah" for bottle; "Bah bah!!" (with hyperventilation) for peanut butter; "Bee" for beans.

Favorite activities: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Your dancing and enthusiasm has reached a whole new level.  You received Mickey and Minnie stuffed animals and books for Christmas and you are pretty in to those.

Taking apart legos.  Organizing things/laying out like items on a table or in Mommy's lap.  Pushing your stroller.  Playing with your new purse.  Going down slides.  Going for walks and visiting the playground (you hate leaving).  Visiting the library.  Coloring with crayons.  Splashing in the bathtub and playing with your bath toys.  Giving kisses and hugs.  Feeding your doll.  Galloping and flying with Daddy.  Going to the gym and church (just asking you if you want to go either place makes you smile and laugh).  Magnets.  Being sung to.

Things you don't like: putting on shirts (you rush and get frustrated when you hurriedly put your arms through the neck opening), having a poopy diaper changed (you generally deny the crime, run away and throw a fit).  Carrots (you feed them instead to Mommy, with a smile).  Mashed potatoes.  Lunch meat.

You are still a picky eater.  But you seem to always want to eat something.  You are always saying "Moaw?" and doing the sign for "more" (which we never taught you...you picked it up at church, I think!).  Your usage of the word seems to translate as "I want".  It doesn't necessarily mean more of whatever you happen to be eating.  It's usually something that you see us eating.  This has made Daddy and I feel like we need to eat in secret because you always want what we have, even if you're full :)

Further, it depends on the day and what mood you're in if you will eat certain foods.  And still, your sippy cup and your snack cup filled with Cheerios are kind of like security blankets for you--you carry them around all the time!

You have four molars and a left lateral incisor on the bottom.  You have the best smile.  You are usually happy and laugh easily.  We love to make you laugh.  Your hair is growing in nicely in the back--you have a long mullet--fine, wispy, blonde and loosely curly.  It is adorable.  Overnight, you outgrew six pairs of shoes.  You are suddenly a size 4 or a size 6w in Stride Rite shoes.  You are getting taller all of a sudden, too--outgrowing your leggings!

You are really outgoing most of the time, but you get super shy around new people and that's the only time that you will lay your head down on my shoulder.  You still don't like guys in general.  But you definitely warmed up to your Uncle John, Uncle Drew, and Grandpa Bob this month after a day or so of being around them constantly.  We'll keep working on Grandpa Clark and Uncle Jack ;)  You also get jealous if Mommy holds another baby.  We need to fix that by June :)

You did so good on the way to Idaho, but were super fussy on the way home.  You finally konked out as we were touching down in Sac.  A little too late.  But it was sure cute!

You go so hard, Sweetie, till you can't go anymore

Christmas day at Grandpa and Grandma Bateman's home

Warmed up to Grandpa!

But Grandma is hands down your favorite.  You never let her put you down.

And Uncle Drew is your buddy, too!

I didn't decorate much this Christmas because of the fog of my first trimester.  No tree.  Just our stockings!  Next year I will go all out for you.
