Whitney Darlin',
You are 9 months old today. At your doctor's visit this morning, you had a great check-up. You are tall and lean (90th percentile for height and 20th percentile for weight). Dr. Hepworth said that your future modeling career looks good ;) You've got your Daddy's genes, that's for sure!
The nurse poked your little finger for a blood test of your iron and lead levels and you didn't mind at all. You sat in Mommy's lap and did soooo good. You were fascinated by the pink Band-Aid the nurse wrapped around your finger--you looked at it quizzically and then you looked pleased! You kept holding your hand out and then touching it. What a good baby you are!
This month, you've been pulling yourself up to a standing position on anything and everything. You are starting to cruise furniture now. You open drawers, hold on to them and stand up while they're open, and we worry you're going to smash your fingers when the drawer gives way! You love touching the electrical outlet covers and the night light. You love pulling on shoelaces and sweatshirt strings, necklaces and earrings.
You stand up for diaper changes (ah, yes, you still won't lie on your back except when you've pooped...most of the time! Silly girl!) while holding on to the bed frame in Mommy and Daddy's room. Quirky kid!
You love to play at Mommy's feet and follow me wherever I go. If I'm sitting on the floor with you, you're always crawling all over me and playing with your toys while trying to be as close to me as possible--not cuddly close but your style, which is "independent close". You love perching on Mommy's hip while I try to get stuff done around the house. You love your dolly, the TV remote, and our cell phones. You love putting a toy gear in each hand and clopping them on the floor as you crawl around, saying, "Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah-Ah!". You get a big kick out of riding on your car or being pulled around the house in your wagon.
You enjoy playtime with other kiddos in childcare at church and the gym. You love sWINGing on the sWINGset! Another favorite activity is playing at your water table on the patio. Now that the weather is hot, that is a fun activity for you and Mommy during our days together. Going for a run or walk in the jogging stroller is also one of your favorite pastimes :) Makes you "sing". We love that about you. When we blow gently in your face, you giggle and grin.
Your favorite books these days are "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" and "The Very Busy Spider".
You're a great eater and have finally caught on to the skill of drinking from a sippy cup. You could sit in your high chair and feed yourself Cheerios and Super Puffs forever. We love how they get stuck to your palm and you can't quite get them in your mouth when they're stuck like that.
You are a vibrant, silly, smart, observant, fearless little kid. And you are so very loved. Every day, your Daddy and I thank God for you. Each day with you is a gift and our life just seems to be getting better and better as you grow. And you're growing so very, very fast, Angel. Love you, Sweets.
