Levi Andrew: 14 Months Old

Dear Levi,

Now you are 14 months old!  You are saying a lot more sounds and trying to talk all the time now.  You talk with your hands (little bit Italian, yes you are!).  You say, "Gah gah" by which you mean, "Thank you!" (you say this when you are handing me something like food or a toy).  You also say, "Gah gah gah!" which means, "Go go go!"  You can also say something that resembles, "Vroom vroom!"  You say, "Nah nah nah" (no no no...Whitney is always saying this to you, which is surely how you picked up the sound).  "Uh uh" (uh oh!), "Ma" (mom), "Dada" (dad), "Moh" or lots of whimpering=more food please.  You can also hum and "sing"!  I notice you hum a lot when you are in the car listening to music or when you are getting ready for bed, listening to your bedtime music.

You are getting ready to walk!  You can free-stand for 5-7 seconds.  You are always pushing your walker, dining chairs, stools, your big truck and big wagon--prepping those muscular legs of yours for the task of walking unassisted soon!  I say it all the time--I'm going to miss watching you crawl all over the house.  You crawl with such a swagger!  One of the adorable things you have done this month is try to walk by holding onto Whitney's hands.  She goes a little too fast for you though.  One time she even tried to dance with you and I snapped the sweetest picture of it!

You got two molars on top this month!  So now you have four teeth in the front on top and two in the front on the bottom, plus those molars.  You still look like a cute little beaver ;)  You are always smiling and laughing!

You have learned how to feed Mommy--you think it is a really funny game to try to put things in my mouth!  You also like to share with me and hand me things and I think it is because you love the praise that you receive when I say, "Thank you!"  It is really cute how you say, "Gah gah" in anticipation of my "Thank you"!

You don't know how to point with your finger but you instead gesture with your outstretched arm/hand and "talk" with such conviction, it reminds us of Mussolini!

You have learned how to pick toys up and put them back into a container.  You can also put Duplo legos together.  Your favorite things--cars (we adore the way you push them along the floor with your bootie in the air as you walk on your feet), walker, balls, TV remotes, open dishwasher, banging on the TV and pushing the buttons on the side, climbing anything (loving the playground so much!), getting into drawers and cabinets and food!

You love fruit of all kinds, that is your favorite!  Veggies, not so much.  You like meat quite a bit, too :)  I love that at least you will try anything, unlike your sister who is afraid of most food!  This month, I tried letting you feed yourself with a spoon and it didn't go so well.  You would just grab food off of the spoon and lick your messy hand!  You still allow me to feed you purees with a spoon so we're gonna ride it out a while longer ;)  You enjoy nursing a few times per day but you are demanding it significantly less lately.  You drink water from a sippy cup and we haven't started you on cow's milk yet.  You now know how to use a straw, too!  You have been getting up once at night to nurse, usually around 3 or 4 in the morning but the past few nights you have been sleeping 12 hours straight!  I think we are turning a corner with your night sleep and it's about time, ha ha!

You also love your shoes.  You wear size 5.5 Cookie Monster Stride Rites.  They are adorable.  You know it, too!

You hate when Mommy leaves the room.  You always have to follow me and be where you can see me.  You are my shadow!  When I drop you off at childcare at the gym or church, you cry for a few seconds.  So, so sweet to be loved so much by you!  One of the other cute things you've been doing is popping straight up on your knees and lifting your arms toward me when you want me to pick you up.  Always with those sweet puppy eyes.  :)  Irresistible!

Things that make you cry--the vacuum, the garbage truck outside, and sirens passing by.  Usually Whitney can't get under your skin but lately you are more sensitive to her bullying.

I am enjoying you so much.  You grew up a lot this month.  You are so much more capable and you're showing us that you understand a lot, too.  You are such a sweet boy and you have my whole heart.  I love you so!
