Dear Levi,
Happy Half Birthday, Bud! I can't believe you are already six months old!
You are getting cuter by the day. And bigger, too! You weigh 17.5 pounds (60th percentile) and are 27.5 inches long (80th percentile). You are wearing size 12 month clothing. You are a sturdy little guy. I love how muscular you are--your thighs and booty are so strong---and SO CUTE! Your hair is coming in--and it looks like it is lightening up quite a bit--we think you might even be a blondie like Whitney! Your eyes are darkening. They are kind of slate grey, but then again, it is hard to define the color. Hazel, I guess. I love it.
This month, you've learned how to sit up on your own. You can spin on your tummy and even try to scoot on you tummy to reach for toys. You get the most determined look on your face when you see something out of reach that you want to hold. If you're on your tummy, you push up with your hands so that your whole chest and tummy rise off of the floor. You give the toy a good stare down and then you get frustrated when you can't quite reach it. I think it is so cute to watch your efforts :) I know you're going to crawl very soon!
We've started to offer you solid food. The first food you tried was applesauce. You seemed to kind of like it the very first time. But ever since the first time, you pretty much show distaste for anything we feed you. Even to the point of gagging and throwing it up ;) You still thrust your tongue out. Gotta figure out how to swallow first! All in time, of course!
You love to touch things and grab things. Everything you see, you reach out and touch it, try to pick it up, or put a death grip on it. Hair, flesh, earrings, books that I'm reading to you and Whitney while you're sitting in my lap, silverware or dishes when you are sitting with me as I eat--all of it sparks your curiosity!
Things you love: Your tongue. You are always sticking it out! You love board books and bath books. You like to hold them and look at pictures and put the books in your mouth. You love toys--everything goes in your mouth. You love to hum along with classical or lullaby music. You adore Whitney. You give her the biggest smiles and the sweetest gazes. You love to watch what she's doing. You also love Mommy and Daddy. Lots of gooey smiles and laughs. You love to be kissed on your cheeks and your neck--it always makes you bust up laughing! You love to relax in the bath. You light up when we say your name, too!
Sleep-wise, you are doing so much better at night. I have been letting you cry it out at night and you've learned quickly how to put yourself back to sleep. Now I generally only nurse you one time at night. You will go about 8 hours straight, eat, and then go right back to sleep the rest of the (12+ hour) night. Daytime naps are short (usually an hour) but you are happy and easy-going and don't seem to need long naps.
You are the sweetest son. Words fail to communicate just how wonderful of a baby you are! You make every day a great day for Mommy. Those smiles :)
