Levi Andrew: 5 Months Old

Dear Levi,

Today you turned 5 months old and you rolled over from front to back for the first time.  Now you can roll both ways.  So exciting!

You have been growing so much lately.  You now wear size 9 and 12 month clothes!  I really notice the growth and change in your face.  Well, also in how heavy you are to carry.  We weighed you at about 17.5 pounds on our scale at home.  My precious boy!  Your hair is coming in, too--light brown.  Love it!

Your sleeping has become quite erratic this month.  You seem to be teething.  Extra fussy.  Sometimes, you wake up every hour at night.  You just want to be held.  And nurse, of course.  You have been chewing on your hands a ton and you seem to be in heaven when we put pressure on your gums.  You will even hold on to my hand with both of yours as though you are trying to help me massage your gums for you!  Teething sucks!

You are still such a laid-back baby and you love to be held.  You are pretty quiet, for the most part.  You do have a sweet sing-song voice when you are listening to a lullaby CD that we have (as though you are singing along) or just when you are tired and I'm holding you, you start to sing like that, too.  I love listening to your coos, too.  And I really love to make you laugh.  Your laughs are the best, and your smile?--gooey and gorgeous!

As sweet as you are, you regularly remind me that you are 100% boy.  For example, you fart with your diaper off when I'm changing you, you have a super loud cry when you're mad (reminds me of a French horn), and you like to shove your whole fist into your mouth until you gag on it.  Such a boy!

You love to look at Mommy and Daddy and Whitney.  You love to touch our faces.  When we take your hands and clap them together, you laugh.  You know your name and look at me when I call your name.

You like to sleep with Whitney's old "Dolly" (a soft/satin lovey with a doll head).  Just something to hold onto.  You love to hold stuff.  Favorite toys include a little red ball and teething rings--perfect size to hold and put in your mouth.  You like to touch and hold little board books and bath books.  We started sitting you in the activity center bouncy thing this month--you seem to enjoy sitting up, turning yourself around and playing with all the different stuff.  Big boy :)

We have started putting you in the nursery during the church service.  You are doing good!  One day, they told me you slept in an old woman's arms for half an hour.  I'm sure she loved that :)  I, too, love the way you are still able to sleep with me holding you.

I can't believe how fast the last five months have passed.  You are acting so grown up and capable lately.  I feel like I blinked and now you aren't a little baby anymore.  Makes me sad in a way!   One day you're gonna be bigger than me (crazy!).  I truly love how much fun you are now--you are such a treasure and I'm grateful beyond words to be your mommy!

I love being able to watch all your 'firsts' and not miss a minute of

perfect

you.

Oh, how I wish you could stay so innocent and cuddly!
The trouble with having an older sister is that you sometimes have to use girly stuff.  Like this pink kitty towel.
I thought it was adorable!
Here's your favorite dolly--again, an instance where you are victim to girly hand-me-downs ;)
