Whitney Rose: 17 Months Old

Mommy told you to jump!
Lately, you are always putting shoes on your hands!
Time for bed
Letting Daddy put on your jammies
:)

Just laying there for a sec
The next morning at breakfast
You don't want Daddy to leave ever :(  Same is true on days when Mommy has to work.  You get sad.
Pick me up, Daddy!
Do you have to go?
Just a few more minutes!
I love you!
Daddy telling you to have a good day with Mommy
Daddy kiss?
Daddy is making his lunch
:)
Talking to him
You have the cutest smile and laugh
I want to imprint this expression and the corresponding giggles on my mind forever

Cute pigtails!
You love to be outside running around

Taking a bath with Daddy is so fun for you!

Miss Independent.  With two spoons.
You make such a mess, Sweetie.  This is hard for Mommy's Type A personality.  I am having to adjust.
Multitasking.  Wonder where you learned how to do this?  You are SO like your mom.
You learned how to pull the wagon

I found you sitting alone and babbling to yourself, reading books while I was cooking dinner.  So cute!
Organizing bars
Some things just aren't worth the fight

Whitney, Sweetie, you are 17 months old now.

One thing I forgot to mention last post was that you now feed yourself with a spoon.  You first took interest in it early in December, as I recall.  You would grab the spoon out of my hand and try to do it yourself.  You are now quite good at it!  You are pretty adamant that you don't need help anymore, refusing bites unless you have control of the spoon.

You are learning how to jump (but you can't get any air under your feet yet) and you can spin all the way around when we say, "Turn around!"  You are learning how to run, too!

You put things away when asked, much to my delight.  I smother you with praises for it--how long will that work? ;)  You are a really good listener.  You are cautious and always look at me for my reaction when you are about to do something that you think (or know) you probably shouldn't do.

You mimic me when I shake my head "no" or when I say, "No no no!"  Sometimes I hear you practicing that series of no's when you are alone in your crib.  You say, "no" perfectly these days whereas before you would say "nah".

You can say "thank you" but it comes out something like "djee djay".  I can't do it quite the way you do.

Yesterday you were playing peak-a-boo with me and I heard you say for the very first time, "Pee boo!"  You know that a car says, "Vroom" and a train says, "Choo choo!"

You are very talkative.  You have full conversations with me and just with yourself and babble constantly as you read books on your own.

You are still really in to sorting, organizing and laying out like items (books, granola bars, bowls, shoes).  You also can be found multitasking like Mommy, carrying a million things in your little arms all at once (usually Baby, water, snack cup, and one more item).  Recently, Daddy taught you how to pull your toy red wagon.  You do that a lot.

I have started putting your hair up into pigtails and you look just like a little girl.  It immediately added a lot more sass, too.

One of the new foods that I've introduced is Kix cereal.  No more Puffs, Sweetheart.  Too expensive!

You are weaning yourself off of a nap so most days, you just take one.  Sometimes, though, you really need both--just depends if you'll let yourself :)

I took you to story time at the library last Wednesday for the first time.  It is designed for kids under 2, like you.  You had a lot of fun.  Mommy doesn't know all the new jingles and hand movements, however.  I felt like a brand new mom.  Seemed like all the other moms, about a dozen, knew just what to do and sing.  Ah well.  I will learn over time :)

You are such a happy girl, Whitney.  You love to laugh and be really silly.  One thing that I seriously can't get enough of these days is how you run towards me and throw yourself into my arms for a hug.  You love it and so do I!  And I also love, of course, your sweet and often repetitive kisses.  Sometimes open-mouthed with tongue involvement :)

In this picture, Mommy is exactly 17 weeks pregnant and you are exactly 17 months old!

Running into my arms

Every single time, you smile like this.  I can't get enough of it!

Love you, Baby!
